History

We are “Posada Tintes”, a small family business with more than 50 years experience working in the restaurant and accommodation industries. This little business began with Victoria, my grandmother, who with a lot of effort and 6 little children, came to Cuenca to improve her life. People were welcome to eat and sleep in her house, even their own mules or horses, which rested in the backyard. This is how she gave all kinds of visitors food and a bed.

Things have changed; mules or horses no longer come to our house and people don’t share bedrooms - though that’s something that I remember, and I’m 42 years old! Also, all the rooms now have basic amenities: full bathroom, wardrobe, “climalit” windows (for better insulation), flat screen tv and free Wi-Fi access.

We continue evolving, so we (finally) are on the net with our own web page, sharing what you can find in our house, our city and all around our province. We can show you where you can go for a walk, where you can drink or get something to eat, our most popular places to visit, more relaxed zones or somewhere to dance at night. Cuenca has a lot of options for all kinds of travellers; it’s a small city but it has lots of variety.

On the 18th of December in 2010 the high speed train (AVE) began servicing Cuenca and connecting our city to Madrid, Levante, Cataluña and Andalucía. This makes it even easier to come and visit Cuenca which is magical at night and stunning at day. A city where you can walk around, fall in love, visit, enjoy and discover.

Since it began with my grandmother Victoria, we have remained a small family business. Now it’s owned by her sons and their partners; Victoria with her husband Ricardo and Ángel with his wife Belén. Of course we need more help, so there are 3 more members of the staff to improve your experience.

Posada Tintes is in a building with more than 200 years of history. Some of the walls are near one meter wide and the beams that you can see in the restaurant are the original ones. Even the decor is a collection of family heirlooms since Victoria began Posada Tintes.

We are located in the lowest part of the old town near the river “Huécar”. It’s so charming to enjoy from our little windows or from one of our rooms with a balcony.

We are 5 minutes walking distance along the river to the “Casas Colgadas” (Hanging Houses), 5 minutes walking distance to the pure centre of the city where you will find supermarkets, shops, pharmacies, bars, banks and everything you need including the bus stop to reach the highest part of the city.

At Posada Tintes, we want to help you connect with all the wonderful things our province has to offer. We can help you to choose the places to visit, how to get there, places to eat and more.

If you want a basic and economic stay, or enjoy a nice meal with reasonable price, don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you so much for your time, for wanting to know us and know our story.
